Type of swim suit: Regulation Suit definitions are available on the Gear page Comments: The weather was a little messed up. I swam about 4 miles into a head wind with white caps. I ended up only swimming 9 out of the 12 miles. I used Sustained Energy mix with huckleberry gel mixed in for flavor. I stopped adding gel after 2 feedings. I was cramping up after each feeding. I think removing the gel helped. I feed 6 times at about 20oz each. The feeding schedule worked very well. There was a 9 hour time limit to the race, I got out at 7 hours. I still had 2 hours left in me. I probably would not have finished but I could have gotten close.
Individual mile metrics are not accurately captured for open water swims.
